Order and chaos. On linear and nonlinear difference equations (English)

The booklet gives an elementary introduction to discrete dynamical systems in one real variable. The first part deals with linear first and second order systems; the second part with nonlinear systems.NEWLINENEWLINEThis part contains a discussion of the logistic map \(f_\mu(x) = \mu x (1-x)\) (in details only for \(1 < \mu < 3\)). Moreover, it is proved in general that the existence of an orbit of period three implies that orbit of all other periods exist. The Sakovskij ordering is stated and there is a short discussion of the topological definition of chaos.
