Thermal stress analysis of multi-layer thin films and coatings by an advanced boundary element method (English)
0 references
This paper develops the boundary element method for steady-state thermoelasticity. For three typical test examples, it is shown that the boundary element method provides accurate solutions for thin films or coatings with the thickness-to-length ratios down to \(10^{-9}\), using much fewer boundary elements, as compared with the finite element method.
