The author studies maps of the form \(F(x,y)=(f(y),g(x))\) where \(f,g\) are continuous 1-dimensional functions. He uses some results of 1-dimensional systems to derive sufficient conditions for \(F\) to be chaotic. Here chaos is in the sense of Li-Yorke. Some conditions for \(F\) to be non-chaotic are also derived.
