Erich Hecke (1887-1947) in memoriam. Especially four talks from the year 1947 (Q2764577)

The article is devoted to the memory of the famous Hamburg number and function theorist, the student of Hilbert, Erich Hecke (1887-1947). The circumstances of Hecke's death from cancer shortly after the war, during which he had resisted the Nazi regime, are discussed on the basis of Hecke's left papers. The bigger part of the paper is an appendix with four interesting talks on Hecke and his mathematics, which were given in Copenhagen and Hamburg in 1947 by Jacob Nielsen, Harald Bohr, Wilhelm Maak, and Hans Zassenhaus.
