On the causality of linear time invariant descriptor systems (English)
0 references
The paper investigates causality and representability questions for linear time-invariant descriptor (or singular) systems. It is namely shown that finite-dimensional continuous-time descriptor systems are always causal, which is not necessarily the case for finite-dimensional discrete time systems or infinite-dimensional continuous or discrete-time systems. It is mostly a theoretical work, the emphasis being on the mathematical tools used to derive the main results. Technical developments are difficult to follow, due to complex and sometimes awkward notations. The paper is probably of interest to some mathematicians, but should be of minor relevance for control specialists.
