Karl Frithiof Sundman (1873-1949) was a professor of astronomy at the University of Helsinki during the years 1918-1941. The paper under review presents his articles about the mathematical methods of classical celestial mechanics. The most important of them were published in 1915. The second part of the paper will describe Sundmann's solution to the three-body problem.
