Pole assignment for uncertain systems (English)

This book presents an innovative account of the pole assignment problem approach to control systems design when robustness to parametric uncertainty is demanded.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book contains seven chapters. After the introductory chapter, a brief history of pole assignment is given in Chapter 2. The key developments are quoted in a historical order following a classification of pole assignment methods.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe next four chapters (i.e. from Chapter 3 to Chapter 6) are concerned with finding general parametric solutions to the pole assignment problem. A unification of the dyadic state-feedback pole assignment algorithms is given in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 presents full-rank state-feedback pole assignment methods from a computer algebra perspective. After reviewing several methods from the literature, a ``General Mapping Approach'' is introduced. This approach is shown to have several advantages over the existing ones in which a general form for a full-rank state-feedback matrix is required. In Chapter 5, the complete output-feedback pole assignment problem is considered. Chapter 6 is mainly about the partial pole assignment problem. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe robust controller design problem is discussed in Chapter 7. After a brief introduction to the analysis of performance robustness in parametric uncertain systems, methods for selecting a robust pole assignment compensator are considered. It is claimed that genetic algorithms, which are also briefly introduced in this chapter, can be very useful for such a purpose. The chapter finishes with discussions on satisfying further design requirements such as increasing the real stability radius and zero assignment.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book provides a very readable and innovative presentation of the various pole assignment techniques. Some of its chapters may be used in graduate courses in Control Engineering.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is available in Europe from: American Technical Publishers Ltd, 27/29 Knowl Piece, Wilbury Way, Hitchin, Herts, SG4 0SX, England.
