It is proved that the Carathéodory pseudodistance \(c_{X \times Y}\) on the Cartesian product of arbitrary connected complex spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) can be computed as NEWLINE\[NEWLINEc_{X\times Y}\bigl( (x',y'), (x'',y'') \bigr)= \max \bigl\{ c_X(x',x''), c_Y(y',y'')\bigr\} \text{ for any }(x',y'),(x'',y'')\in X \times Y.NEWLINE\]
