The authors study some embeddings of finite classical groups defined over field extensions. They concentrate on \(\text{PG}(8,q)\). One of the main results is the following: The full stabilizer \(H\) of the Hermitian Veronesean \(\mathcal H\) in \(\text{PSL}(9,q)\) is almost simple and is induced by an absolutely irreducible subgroup of \(\text{SL}(9,q)\) modulo scalars.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe authors have similar results for the full stabilizer of the twisted Hermitian Veronesean and for some rational curve in \(\text{PG}(8,q^2)\).
