The paper deals with a wind tunnel experiment carried out on the longitudial vortex excitation of the upstream cylinder in a cruciform two-cylinder system. Based on the measurements performed for varying damping factor, criteria for the occurrence of longitudinal vortex excitations are presented, and alternating lift coefficients are examined to estimate the excitation force.
