Let \(L_b(i)\) denote the number of large digits (\([b/2]\) or more) in the base \(b\) representation of the nonnegative integer \(i\). The authors use Delange's method [\textit{H. Delange}, Enseign. Math. (2) 21, 31-47 (1975; Zbl 0306.10005)] to find moments of the large digit function.
