The paper studies an adaptive notch filter for frequency estimation of a noise-corrupted sine-wave. The behaviour of the filter is analyzed and design equations are provided. Finally, extensive simulations show its frequency-tracking and noise-rejection properties and provide a comparison with the performance of a phase-locked loop.
