This article gives a comprehensive review of current mathematical problems in general relativity. The pecularities of Lorentzian geometry with respect to Riemannian are pointed out. A brief discussion with a collection of the relevant literature of the conformal structure of the spacetimes, positive mass theorems and singularity theorems is presented. In addition topological issues and Lorentzian splitting theorems are discussed.
