Separation of variables for Lax systems: A bihamiltonian point of view (English)

The classical theory of separation of variables for the Hamilton-Jacobi equations provides the most effective way of effectively solve the equations of the motion associated with a particular Hamiltonian H.NEWLINENEWLINEIn this paper, the author presents some results on a recently developed approach to the problem of separation of variables for Hamilton-Jacobi equations. In particular, it is discussed a remarkable connection between the theory of separation of variables for systems admitting a Lax representation with spectral parameter and the theory of separation of variables for bihamiltonian systems.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0969.00044].
