Asymptotic lattices and their integrable reductions. I: The Bianchi-Ernst and the Fubini-Ragazzi lattices (English)

This paper deals with the theory of asymptotic lattices and their integrable reductions from a unified perspective. The authors show that the so-called ``discrete Calapso system'' (introduced by \textit{W. K. Schief} [Stud. Appl. Math. 106, 85-137 (2001)]) is also the proper discrete analogue of the Bianchi system. They also present the theory of transformations of the discrete Fubini-Ragazzi nets which allows one to construct solutions through a sequence of linear steps only.
