The paper considers the problem of the realization of Boolean functions by schemes consisting of cellular elements. The results strongly depend on the basis used. A basis consisting of five elements (some of them are functional and the others are commutational) is suggested in which a concrete value for the asymptotic behavior of the Shannon function is obtained.
