Lift-interference and blockage corrections for a two-dimensional subsonic flow in closed and ventilated wind-tunnels (English)

A general procedure of wall corrections calculations for a fully attached flow on a two-dimensional model spanning the wind tunnel in mid-height is given. The wind tunnel is a rectangular section, with solid sidewalls and either perforated or closed, longitudionally slotted, roof and floor. The paper concerns two types of corrections: blockage interference, due to the volume of the model and wake, and lift interference, causing an upward distribution along the wind tunnel. The consequential corrections are proposed for lift, drag and pitching moment coefficients, as well as for stream parameters: static pressure and temperature, density, and hence dynamic pressure and Mach and Reynolds numbers. Their application is explained and particular care is taken to distinguish, in the case of wake corrections the two cases of either balance measurements or wake traverse.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0884.00052].
