The author reviews some of the principal properties of ratios which were given prominent roles in the theory of harmony put forward by the ancient Greeks. (Rather anachronistically, he states these ratios as fractions: \({m\over n}\), rather than \(n:n\).) Particular emphasis is laid upon `epimoric' ratios, which take the form \((m+1):m\), with \(m\) an integer. Various properties are stated, including relationships with their arithmetic, geometric and `harmonic' (p. 316) means.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0971.00011].
