Dynamo action due to Ekman layer instability (English)
0 references
The dynamo action due to Eckman instability in a rotating plane layer is analysed in both kinematic and nonlinear regime. The magnetohydrodynamic system of equations is solved numerically, using a pseudo-spectral code with collocation-tau method. Two different kinematic dynamo mechanisms competing with each other are found in the kinematic regime. In the nonlinear regime, a stable nonlinear saturation is preferred, and the feedback of Lorentz force does not appear to destroy the separatrix topology, which leads to an efficient kinematic dynamo process.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0973.00055].
