The aim of the note is to emphasize several interesting properties of the generalized Petersen graph \(G(8,3)\) which are of both combinatorial and group-theoretical nature. With respect to these properties \(G(8,3)\) is either unique or belongs to finitely many exceptional graphs in the considered family of graphs. For instance, \(G(8,3)\) is one of the seven arc-transitive generalized Petersen graphs, and is the unique \(G(n,k)\) (\(k>1\)) which can be represented as a Haar graph, etc.
