In \(\mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^m\) an operator \(Q\) (vector field) possesses a set of independent invariants \(I^1, I^2,\dots, I^m\) (universal invariant) and a primitive of unity \(J\), \(QJ= 1\). Using \((I,J)\) as coordinates, the solution of differential equations, for example Riccati equations, is simplified.
