Generalizing eigenvalue theorems to pseudospectra theorems (English)
0 references
Pseudospectra are powerful tools for studying the behaviour of matrix iterative methods, especially when the matrix is highly nonnormal. Eigenvalues do not give an appropriate information in this situation. They can be even misleading. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINESixteen theorems that describe properties of \(\varepsilon\)-pseudospectra are presented. Each of them is followed by a sketch of a proof, and it is preceded by its equivalent formulation for eigenvalues -- if \(\varepsilon=0\).
