Point value multiscale algorithms for 2D compressible flows (English)
0 references
The authors examine a combination of an expensive high-resolution shock capturing method with a cheap numerical ansatz in order to decrease the computational effort of numerical methods employed to simulate inviscid fluid flow governed by the Euler equations of gas dynamics. Thereby, a point value multiresolution technique is used to detect regions with singularities. A double Mach reflection of a strong shock as well as a supersonic forward facing step are considered to analyze the accuracy of the scheme.
