    The author studies a nonlinear degenerate convection-diffusion model having applications in groundwater aquifer and petrol reservoir simulations. A linear relaxation approximation is developed, the convergence of iterations at each time step is established, and error estimates are obtained. The time discretization is based on the backward Euler method.
