This paper is concerned with the second order formula given in [\textit{H. Widom}, Z. Anal. Anwend. 8, 221--229 (1989; Zbl 0692.47028)]. The proof of this formula is based on the same conditions. This formula concerns the distribution of singular values of Toeplitz matrices. The author gives a new proof of this formula which holds in some case where the conditions of [loc. cit.] are not satisfied.
