On the computation of roll waves (English)

The paper deals with the analysis and numerical approximation of roll waves. The Burgers' equation extended by a linear source term is used as a model problem. Based on an analytic investigation of the governing equations a numerical method is proposed which overcomes numerical difficulties like round-off errors. The performance of the scheme is demonstrated by various numerical experiments.
