The torsional stability of a cylinder subject to finite perturbations (English)

The paper provides a solution of torsion stability problem for the cylinder of nonlinear elastic material with circular cross-section under finite perturbations. In contrast to the classical bifurcation theory, the author constructs an infinite sequence of stable states which bounds the domain of admissible initial perturbations. The applicability of the classical three-dimensional linearized stability theory is estimated.
