    The thermoelastic equilibrium of a transversally isotropic medium with an elliptic crack under symmetric loading (English)

    The stress intensity coefficients (SIC) are determined for plane elliptic cracks in transversally isotropic material (the crack is considered to be perpendicular to the transtropy axis) under arbitrary force and symmetric thermal loadings. The SIC for the elliptic crack in transversally isotropic medium are obtained by means of formulas derived by the author in his previous works for transition from the isotropic to transversally isotropic material [see, e.g. J. Math. Sci., New York 101, No. 1, 2727--2736 (2000); translation from Teor. Prikl. Mekh. 29, 3--16 (1999; Zbl 1049.74755)] and the corresponding problem for isotropic medium. The transversally isotropic material with two complanar elliptic cracks is considered as an example.
