The author considers stability of a rectangular plate reinforced by ribs. An exact solution is obtained for the neutral equilibrium. Analysed is the effect of location of the ribs on the change of the stressed-strained state while moving off the plate edge. The applicability of the method is discussed for orthotropic plates.
