Vibrations, dynamics and structural systems. (English)

This book describes vibrations of mechanical systems and structural dynamics in an integrated and unified manner. Almost all practical structures are subjected to dynamic loads, so the problems of vibrations and structural dynamics are very actual in modern engineering. The advent of computer has made a rapid progress in the study of vibrations and structural dynamics. As a result, new numerial techniques have been developed; in particular, the use of finite element method allows to formulate and solve increasingly complex problems of structural analysis, and these circumstances are reflected in this book. The author describes classical methods and a variety of modern effective methods in vibration theory and in dynamic structural analysis of discrete and continuous systems. We mention some of them: component mode synthesis method, finite element method in vibration analysis, finite element analysis of periodic structures, spline finite strip analysis, and random vibration analysis. This book may be useful to students and engineers who deal with vibration problems.
