In this paper, there is a discussion of a conjecture by M. Rieffel about the so-called Beals-Cordes type characterization (as pseudodifferential operators \(a(x,D)\) associated to a symbol \(a(x,\xi)\)) for a special class of bounded operators on \(L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)\) commuting with all pseudodifferential operators of the form \(G(x+J\Delta)\), \(G\in{\mathcal S}(\mathbb{R}^d)\).
