Let \(K\) be a submanifold of arbitrary codimension of a globally hyperbolic space-time. The authors investigate \(K\)-Jacobi tensors and their associated Riccati equations and compute the timelike diameter along the timelike geodesic orthogonal to \(K.\) This is sharper than the one given by the traditional index form technique.
