The Nambu-Goto theory of closed bosonic strings moving in \(1+3\)-dimensional Minkowski space: The quantum algebra of observables (English)

The closed bosonic string in 4-dimensional Minkowski space-time is treated in an unconventional manner. Instead of resolving the string into local pieces, now it is described by invariant charges. These charges form a Poisson algebra. In section 2, large lists of irreducible tensor invariants are given for the classical theory. In section 3, the analogous quantum algebra of observables is deduced.
