This monograph contains a survey of results obtained by the authors in the last 10 years. The topics (chapters 2 to 5) include Lagrangian dynamics and classical field theory in a jet bundle framework, in discrete and continuous versions. The authors also discuss variational integrators and conservation laws. A historical survey on the work of academician Sabba Stefanescu is included in the first chapter. In the last part of the monograph (chapter 6), the authors present a list of graphic illustrations obtained using Maple.
