Designed as a complement to other already published volumes [``Philosophy of logic, an anthology'' (2001; Zbl 1013.03006) and ``A companion to philosophical logic'' (2002; Zbl 1031.03004)], this new anthology of philosophy of mathematics is divided into five parts (1. The realm of mathematics; 2. Ontology of mathematics and the nature and knowledge of mathematical truth; 3. Models and methods of mathematical proof; 4. Intuitionism; and, 5. Philosophical foundations of set theory).NEWLINENEWLINE The articles are thematically organized, rather than chronologically; and the general discussion evolves around the ontology, truth-value semantics and epistemology of mathematics. There is an extremely helpful index that allows the reader to skim the volume in search of the discussion of similar concepts in different articles.
