Runs and scans with applications (English)
0 references
This book presents both theoretical and applied aspects of runs and scans and illustrates their inportant role in reability analysis through various applications from science and engineering. The authors provide a detailed discussion of current problems, such as sooner and later waiting times, consecutive systems, life-testing experiments, learning and memory models, matching in genetic codes, etc.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe contents of this book are divided into three natural parts. Part A is mainly concerned with the waiting time for the first occurrence of runs and its applications to a variety of areas (reliability, quality control, meteorology). Part B is devoted to the waiting time for the multiple occurrence of runs, to sooner and later waiting time problems, and to multivariate distributions relating to the occurrence of runs. Finally, Part C is concerned with distributions relating to scan statistics, which are a natural generalization of the run principle.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThis book is intended as an authoritative reference for students and professionals alike. It offers experts practical and theoretical coverage of the subject in the context of reliability and life-testing settings.
