Chaos in vibrating granular flows (English)

The authors give an analysis of continuum model for the study of granular flows in vibrating beds. The authors employ a numerical method (explicit finite difference scheme) as well as an asymptotic approximation (Melnikov theory) to investigate the dynamics of the model. Numerical results on the model reveal relatively stable patterns of vortex type.
