Fifty years of supercavitating flow research in the USA: personal recollection (Q2784945)

History of development of researches on supercavitation in United States of America is stated in the article in the form of personal recollections. The review embraces fifty years period from creation of the linearized theory of supercavitating flows to appearance of designs of high-speed vehicles of 21st century. Besides the research chronology, technical problems of shipbuilding industry and aviation, which stimulated the development of researches on the supercavitation, are described by author. References of foreign works on supercavitation including works fulfilled in the Germany and USSR and exerted important influence on the development of investigations on the supercavitation in the USA are contained in this article.
