Let \(R\) be a commutative ring with 1. If \(A\) is an Azumaya \(R\)-algebra, then \(A\) is said to be a Schur algebra if \(A\) is a homomorphic image of some group ring \(RG\) with \(G\) finite. Similarly, \(A\) is a projective Schur algebra if it is a homomorphic image of a twisted group ring \(R^\alpha G\) with \(G\) finite. This paper studies some relationships between these two concepts and offers some examples.
