The book contains an excellent overview of the methods used in volumetric image analysis. In the first part different representations and topological properties of 3D binary images are represented. Different filters are used to transform these images. In the second part the author studies 3D grey level images and the corresponding filters. Part three gives an overview of surface tiling and reconstruction in 3D images. An appendix, many C-style algorithms and examples of medical applications (magnetic resonance images of the human brain) help the reader to follow the contents of the book.
