The authors present 16 open problems that were contributed by the following participants in the 1995-1996 Approximation Theory Seminar conducted at the University of South Florida, Tampa: P. D. Dragnev, M. E. H. Ismail, R. Kovacheva, A. L. Levin, V. Prokhorov, E. A. Rakhmanov, E. B. Saff, B. Shekhtman and S. Suetin. These problems concern rational bases in the space \(C[0,1]\), the iterated Aitken's transform, certain points of the unit sphere in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space, polynomials bounded on equally spaced points, a theorem by Nehari, geometrically fast approximation by rational functions on \([0,\infty)\), best rational approximation and analytic continuation, \(q\)-Bessel functions, the \(q\)-exponential function, zeros of minimal polynomials, the density of interpolation points, Gibbs phenomena, the convergence of best approximants, interpolation in several variables, approximation by rational functions with fixed numerator degree and the Bernstein-Erdös conjecture.
