The different modes in the Euler system are decoupled in the three-dimensional subsonic region near a divergent nozzle. This is achieved by a new formulation (a new system of conservation laws) of the isentropic Euler equations. An analogous procedure is applied to the incompressible Euler system in three dimensions. Other potential applications of that approach include self-similar Euler equations, steady Euler equations with damping, steady Euler-Poisson and Euler-Maxwell equations.
