Batch processing in a glass furnace (English)
0 references
The authors describe batch processing in a glass furnace. The material is introduced in the furnace and melted under the action of a radiative device. Propagation of heat in the material is described by a free boundary 1D problem for a system of two coupled nonlinear heat equations for two temperatures: \(T_1\) corresponding to the melted part of the batch and \(T_2\) corresponding to the unmelted part of the batch, the two parts being separated by the free planar interface. Approximate problems are investigated together with various asymptotics.
