Leibniz. A very short introduction (English)
0 references
The booklet is a short, reliable introduction to Leibniz's biography and philosophical thinking. Some pages are also dealing with some of Leibniz's mathematical ideas and achievements. Thus, the nine chapters are discussing his projects of a universal characteristic, of a general science, the role of academies of sciences, Leibniz's ideas about possible worlds, his theory of knowledge, his theodicy, monads, corporeal substances, and bodies. There are a timeline and a survey of English written literature dedicated to Leibniz. It is worth mentioning (see page 123) that the so-called Academy Edition of Leibniz's writings and correspondence is published not only by the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, but also by the Göttingen Academy of Sciences.
