Planar, self-similar sets are investigated. The visibility of such sets is estimated in terms of Favard length. New upper and lower bounds on the visibility of neighborhoods of some special plane sets are provided. It is also proved, that self-similar plane sets not contained in a line have large projection (in the meaning of Hausdorff dimension) in every direction.
