The paper starts with a study of four-dimensional Lie algebras equipped with a neutral inner product. Then, the authors provide a complete classification of Einstein and Ricci-parallel left-invariant metrics of signature \((2,2)\) on four-dimensional Lie groups.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEAs consequence, the paper yields a complete local classification of four-dimensional homogeneous Einstein manifolds of neutral signature. Moreover, the paper discusses several distinguished examples, including the left-invariant Ricci solitons.
