A new modification of nonlinear conjugate gradient formula (Q2795888)

The authors consider the use of nonlinear conjugate gradient methods for solving unconstrained optimization problems \(\min_{x\in\mathbb{R}^n}f(x)\), where \(f:\mathbb{R}^n\rightarrow\mathbb{R}\) is a continuously differentiable nonlinear function. They establish the descent property using exact line searches and prove the global convergence of their modification of the conjugate gradient method.
