A note on the stability of the twisted nematic critical state in the liquid crystal theory (English)

The paper deals with the weak stability of a special critical point of the Oseen-Frank energy functional, that is a twisted nematic critical state, under an exterior magnetic field. It is shown that if both the twisting grade of the crystal and the exterior magnetic field are small, then the state of the crystal is weakly stable. The problem is defined in Sobolev spaces.
