This paper studies the blow-up solutions for the Davey-Stewartson system comprising a couple of evolution equations describing evolution of a wave-packet. On using the profile decomposition proposed earlier, the best constant of a generalized Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality is computed leading to the sharp threshold mass of blow-up and global existence for the evolution system; the dynamical properties and limiting profile of blow-up solutions near the threshold mass are presented.
