This eminently written long review article has the flavor of a research monograph. It begins with an informative account of the early history of crossover designs, and then introduces the relevant statistical model and the associated information matrices. Some families of crossover designs, such as those where (a) the number of treatments does not exceed the number of periods, and (b) the number of periods does not exceed the number of treatments, are then discussed. This is followed by a discussion on construction procedures. Next, optimality results under the traditional model as well as certain modifications thereof are taken up. The article concludes with an informative discussion on some further advances in this area. The comprehensive list of references is an asset of this article.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1327.62001].
